This is a spin off from Elaray's thread on rulers. On the Bernina yahoo group they were talking about these rulers, so of course I had to visit.

Now I'm intrigued after watching the video. This seems to me a great way to get good blocks. I could still use my Accuquilt Go to cut the basic triangles and squares, and then line them up with this ruler to get an accurate block.
Thoughts?

HERE is the link to the website.

youtube video

I saw these yesterday at Country Manor. Now I understand how to use them. I did not pick one up, but I did see many new rulers and tools I will buy in the future once this current project is done.

I found the video. Looks like a good ruler to have. Will put it on my wish list.

Thanks Learn!
This one I don't see as being quite as gimmicky. But after thinking about it, I see now I couldn't use the Accuquilt with it. To use this ruler you have to start out with larger blocks - increasing all your cuts by a quarter of an inch at least. Sounds like a lot of math, unless she has all that figured out already. I may email her and ask more questions if no one here is familiar.

Maybe it would be good if your blocks are consistently coming out larger than they should due to stretching?

She says in her video to add 1/4" to the cut out size needed. Not too hard to do, really. I have a calculator in my sewing room when I need to adjust something in my garment sewing. I have a chart with all the measurement increments in decimals. Works nicely for me.

Comment from a non-quilter.

Thanks for posting this information. I can see that these rulers could also be very helpful for aligning designs for garment sewing. I should look at that section of the store more often.

I do not own the rulers yet but plan to get some now they are carried at my LQS. I know Deb Tucker personally. She is a terrific teacher and traveled the world quilt curciut as a judge at many major shows. She is a smart lady for having come up with these terrific rulers and ways to get accurate blocks. I highly endorse them.

Well I'm seriously thinking about the clipped wings ruler. I don't have any flying geese dies with the Accuquilt - but am interested in making some geese, as they make fabulous star quilts!
So far I have the 2, 3, 4 and 6 in (finished) triangle dies with the Accuquilt. I'm just not sure if those would work with the Tucker Trimmer ruler after being sewn into a square block. I guess they would work, but I'd come out with a non standard size block. Of course that's no big deal if I'm making my own quilt pattern anyway.

I see what you mean by non traditional sized block but I thought the idea of Accuquit was to give you very accurately cut dimensions that need no further trimming. I think the Trimmer would work to give you traditional sizes with fabric cut and pieced at larger sizes than you need then trim to size. None the less, both the Trimmer and Accuquilt can work together.

OK just came back from Deb's website and filled a shopping cart with the Tucker Trimmer 1 and Wing Clipper 1 and the Magic Wand. Thanks for enabling!
