don't sew when you're tired, on a deadline, have been sewing all day and then plan to sew black fabric.

I finally got the pattern to fit-FBA, narrow back, sloping shoulders (did I say I graded this pattern up 2 sizes as well?) fabulous fit.

Overlocker had a conniption & tried to eat the fabric

Coverstitch had a conniption & did whatever it wanted to

so I put the whole lot away & came back to it today. How come I never noticed that the front was WRONG SIDE OUT! And I kept checking while I was making it. But the darts are in exactly the right spot, there is no excess fabric in the back etc etc.

So I shan't be packing it for the trip away. And it was so fabulous, I would have looked stunning (maybe a slight exaggeration there)

Oh Plottie... I've been there one too many time. When it's wrong side out, I blame it on the bad lighting at night.

You probably read it here before. It was the exceedingly expensive lace for my wedding dress that I messed up on; two back left bodices. For the many years since, I do not leave the cutting table without marking the right sides of my pieces. Two pins on the right sides of all the back pieces. One pin on the right sides of all the front pieces.

Think of it, that one very expensive mistake has probably saved me a bundle since.

Once of the PR members posted that she uses chalked x's to distinguish right from wrong sides.

You are in good company, Plottie Sewing black on black is probably my most unlikable thing to sew. As 7yr suggested, I make a B(Back)or F(front) on the wrong sides of my garment pieces. Even if they are not black Although the machines and the color were working against you, I like the fact that you achieved a great fit

I use blue painter's tape to identify the wrong side of most stuff I make. It also allows me to write little notes on it.

That's heartbreaking! Esp. when you put in all that work and it was planned for a trip. I've done that once even WITH the front and back marked, but they were my knit muslins, so it really didn't matter. Scared me though- the thought that I could still screw up so easily. Nothing is fool-proof when Murphy's law is in place. Hope you have a great trip anyway.

don't sew when you're mad.
or at least i shouldn't... the one time my finger got caught on the needle. (it just went through the nail... not too painful)

same principle -> don't cook when you're mad. I swear the food doesn't come out right. Especially baked goods.
