Can someone suggest some of their favorite Charleston fabric shops? I'm going down there for a vacation next week and I just want to peruse; not looking for anything specifically.

I'll be there for a week in June, so I'll be watching this, too.

Summerville has a nice quilt shop if you're going to be driving to the plantations. It's a bit longer drive on a road with nice scenery. Of course, most of us have moved from quilt to garment sewing.

I love Charleston. Have fun!

Thank you for posting this question and I will be watching this topic as well. I live on the Grand Strand and all that seems to be available is upholstery and quilting fabric. It would be worth the trip if Charleston had a shop with a little more variety.

What about this place that opened in June 2011? --
Five Eighth Seams
Not in the historic district, but west (Ashley River Rd.) near the Mark Clark Expressway, I-526.
Anyone been there?

I checked out the dressing room two days ago. Very small shop with not much of a selection. It's pretty bare bones. I'm used to shopping in the nyc where they make the most of their space and the dressing room is quote the opposite. I was surprised they even had batik fabric. I can't imagine spending more than 20 mins here.

So, it's looking like Charleston is not the place for fabric shopping.

Guess we're all stuck with whatever else there is to do there.
