I'm hoping that this is in the right place, I'm new to using the message board here! If this is in the wrong place, I appologize and please show me where to go :)

I'm just wondering what you all think is a good price for a brand new, but 7 years old, Imagine? I have the opportunity to buy one, and I'm excited, I've wanted this machine for a while! And though it seems like a good deal, I'd like to be sure that it is a good deal! Being that it's a private party sale, there's no return policy, and though it seems like a deal, it still a lot of money!

I'm seeing it tonight to try it out, not sure what to look for to as far as seeing if it's truly new, out of the box, never used. I've seen this machine used briefly in the store (a newer one of course), so I'm hoping it won't take long to figure out how to thread it to give it a go.

Check with your local sewing machine dealer (does not have to be a bl dealer) for blue book price.

Look through the manual to be sure all the accessories are with the machine.

Threading is super simple. Use the manual for the first walk-through.

Make sure the thread antenna is extended to it's full range, the rest will be no problem.

I've called two dealers and they're not being helpful. They keep saying to bring it in, they can't give a price over the phone. It's very frustrating!

What is the seller asking for it?

Three or so years ago, I paid $800 for a barely used Babylock Imagine Wave (one model up). They're extremely easy to thread, so you shouldn't have any trouble learning to use one.

$550. I finally got a dealer who would talk to me! She said she sells used Imagines for $1000, granted that's with extras like lessons and servicing and whatnot, and that an Imagine is an Imagine as long as it's an Imagine as far as my concerns with it being 7 years old She said it sounds like a great deal and she'd snatch it up! Seeing it tonight!

When I was shopping for machines last week I found a *used* used Imagine for $900. If there's nothing wrong with this older unused Imagine you looked at, I think it's an great deal too. I've been mulling around this $900 one.

Snap it up! You don't need lessons -- you can teach you self. And you don't need servicing. These machines are very hardy. Good luck.

I did it.. I got it!! I'm having some crazy buyer's remorse/anxiety though!! I know it'll pass, but it's yucky while it's here! It feels different than my old clunker, and I know it's just going to take time to get a feel for it, like driving a new car! Deep breath... I keep telling myself IF it doesn't work out it's "only" 550, lol! Not like I can see how it wouldn't work out, I'm just a crazy, anxious worrier! I look forward to getting to know it and lots of hours and many garments sewn on it!

Congratulations, good for you! I know the feeling you're talking about all to well - I get it too. Sometimes that fear paralyses my decision making process, and I hate that too. If you don't bond with it, let me know. Have fun!
