Attempting to line a mesh knit that is somewhat "see-through." Can anyone supply a "how-to" for this technique, please?

The most recent see sheer knit I used I underlined with 4-way stretch illusion fabric.
I just cut it the same size of the pattern pieces, basted it together, and then sewed as if I only had a single piece of fabric.
I'm new to this though, so maybe it isn't the "right" way.

I'm wearing a mesh knit top right now (RTW) and they have cut the lining from the same mesh knit and lined the whole thing (except sleeves). They cut the bottom part of the lining about 1 and 1/2 inches shorter than the outside fabric and serged the hem of the lining to the outside so that when you put the top on the lining automatically turns to the inside with the 1 1/2 inch hem.
I hope this helps.
