Date: 4/14/12 2:01 AM "Cut To The Fit"
I have been trying and trying to get more info about this book. Anyone actually know Karen Howland? She's in Illinois...She used to write a lot of fitting articles for Threads magazine. I tried to contact her to obtain her book but never got any answer. it's like she dropped off the face of the earth! I LOVED her method of using a sloper to custom-fit patterns and wanted to learn it, but can't find the book or a source for the book! |

Date: 4/14/12 7:27 AM Yeah, I think I'll plunk down my first $299 US and buy it! Not!!! I remember Karen Howland and didn't realize she wrote a book; I liked her Threads articles. I liked using Rene Bergh's Making Your Own Patterns; the photos were great and she had some beautiful examples. click here There are some quarter scale patterns you can play around with in the back of the book. I sold it a while back because I didn't use it anymore, but if I were in that market again, I'd buy another. ------ "We don't impose our rhythm on Nature. The key is to respect and live within Her." I've had this book on my Ebay Saved Searches list for a couple years, and I've never seen one come up for sale.

Date: 4/14/12 1:25 PM Sounds like a very worthwhile book. I'd haunt second hand bookstores and yard sales of downsizing retirees. Also, do you have the Threads articles? If not you could buy the compiled DVD or join Threads Insider to access. All a lot less than $299! ------ Sometimes she didn't always follow the recipe.

Date: 8/19/12 1:44 AM Out of print doesn't mean the copyright is expired, so making copies would be illegal. ------ I heart Panzy, Pfaff Creative Performance, the sewing machine love of my life! And Rupert (Pfaff 2023), Baby (BL Enlighten), Victor (BLCS), Ash (Bernina 350SE), Pal (Bernina 530), Kee (Bernina 750) and the Featherteen Flock!
Most of all, I heart Woo (HimmyCat). Until we meet again, my beautiful little boy. I love you. |
