tissue

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

That is TOO bad. That's it then. I wonder if KWIK SEW will still sell the books they had and sell extra pattern sheets for teaching, etc. They were wonderful. I am going to have to go take a really good look at their site now. Thanks for this thread.

Well, this was it then. Nothing to indicate the books on the site, and no printable lessons etc. that they did have before. I am so sorry that this has happened to KWIK SEW.

Oh, phooey. I am going to have to grab whatever I think I might use from the nearest fabric store that carries Kwik Sew when I'm over there next week. I think their in-store stock will still be the white paper patterns, (but I will certainly look inside before purchasing).

There's always eBay, etsy, etc. Original Kwik Sews will be worth more, and sell for more now, I expect.

So - books are discontinued?

From Facebook:
"We are so sorry that you are unhappy with the changes we have made, however we have considered the suggestions of many loyal Kwik Sew customers. Therefore we have developed this unique tissue that provides transparency and durability at the same time. We have received many favorable comments including ease of pinning and matching"

I was afraid this would happen when the McCalls group bought out KwikSew. For now, only the pre- McCalls Kwik Sew patterns will be in my purchase list. Which means better get them now!

Aw crud. I better go to the one Kwik Sew dealer in this area and see if they have the 'classic' stuff.
I liked the thick paper since I trace things off. Haven't cut a pattern tissue in 15 years.

Did that many people really pin and cut the heavy white patterns?

There has been a slight downhill slide since Kerstin Martenson died, but IMHO the patterns were still ok.

This is it for me too. Goodbye KwikSew.

Hmm, not good, all I can say, is I hope the patterns will be cheaper ? Bit rude to sell an inferior quality product for the same price :(
