Date: 4/16/12 8:56 PM Hi all, washed my fave most comfortable pants; did not check pockets; there was a chapstick in one of the pockets. UGH, not a big problem except that I dried the pants with the chapstick in the pocket and now I have a stain on the pants. The pants are made of a double knit or ponte knit; if they had been black, the stain would not be noticable, but they are a medium brown and the stain is obvious.
Any ideas; I hate to get rid of them.

Date: 4/16/12 9:16 PM so, it's kind of a grease stain? Have you tried goo gone?? I've used it on numerous stains and it's almost always worked ------

Date: 4/16/12 9:25 PM I buy Lestoil and put it in a spray bottle and heavily spray all stains before washing. It almost always gets the stain out. Once in awhile I'll need to throw it through a second time.
Use hot water and let the Lestoil stand for a minute on the fabric before you toss it into the wash.
Cheap and very effective. I discovered it when my husband was still working and kept putting ink pens in his shirt pockets. The ink always leaked, and I was looking for something to take out ink. Lestoil was the only thing I found. It's great for grease as well. |

Date: 4/17/12 7:49 PM I would use a blow dryer on it and blot the stain, then squirt dish soap on it. You'll need to melt the wax and get the oil out both though. |

Date: 4/17/12 8:48 PM For years I have used Ronsonol with positive results.
Saturate the oil stains and after letting the garment sit 15 minutes or so, wash as usual.

Date: 4/18/12 7:00 AM Dawn dishwashing liquid, gently massaged into the fibers, allowed to set for several minutes, and garment washed in the warmest water possible, might get it out. I've had good results with Dawn, and learned about it here at PR.
Citra-Solv or GooGone might work well; I've had decent results on some projects. YMMV
As a last resort, try WD-40 before you throw them in the trash, then launder well in the warmest water possible. |
