Tell me about stores (not just home decor) like Textile Fabrics?

Date: 4/21/12 10:00 AM I live here, but I have no idea the stores available. Never have found a fashion district. Thanks for the great topic! |

Date: 4/21/12 4:55 PM Well TF looked good online, check it out if nearby!
At least they mentioned Apparel besides the usual Home Decor
heavy stuff outlets.

Date: 4/21/12 5:49 PM I think Textile Fabrics is having a sale. It is a very good fabric store. There is also a custom designer on West End (I think...near the loop) that sells nice fabrics.
There is supposed to be a place in Murphreesboro maybe....or out that direction.
But, if you can't find "it" at TF it probably doesn't exist. Try to catch the sale....they don't have them very often. Sign up for their emails.
Edited to add: Textile Fabrics is mostly garment fabric. Good buttons and trims too. -- Edited on 4/21/12 5:51 PM -- |

Date: 4/23/12 11:42 PM I live out of state but I've been to Textile Fabrics only once and was extremely impressed (see my review here) Currently, there is a one-day sale this Saturday, April 28. Last year they had a ongoing sale from May 31 to July 2. Will it be a repeat this year? Who knows. The store is a real treat - from fabric to employees and everything in-between.
Across the street is Fabric Gallery but that is home decor.
Up and around the corner on Thompson Lane in a strip mall is Children's Corner but they are extremely small with limited fabric inventory.
I assume you are more interested in the independent stores than the chains. However, if you go to the Cool Springs area, there's a huge Jo-Ann's. The one we have in our town is small, dingy, puny, and unorganized so for me to see this Jo-Ann's is a breath of fresh air. Don't bother with the one in Rivergate/Madison - totally different experience.

Date: 4/24/12 0:20 AM Mt. Juliet's JoAnn's is also a pretty good one. Fabric leaves something to be desired sometimes, but at least the staff is pretty nice (or they were when I lived up that way a few years ago).
DH told me he knew of TF, and didn't tell me. Mostly, when we were going through the VA system and back and forth between Mountain Home and trying to get changed over to Alvin C. York, there were a lot of quilt stores between here and there. One close to Rogersville, in Bean Station had some nice folks. Again, mostly quilting, but they had a few apparel fabrics, too.
I have nice things to say about Sir's Fabrics, too. Nice place, great folks.
One of these days, I'm just going to drive the state and stop in everywhere there is fabric. |
