Date: 4/21/12 6:35 PM I saw in our local store that there is now a drawer marked for Kwik Sew patterns but no patterns as of yet. When I 'binged' to see if JoAnn's website or the Kwik Sew website has news about this I could find nothing. Yet, it seems there is no address just for Kwik Sew but it's now 'linked' with McCalls. Did McCalls buy them out?
But I'm so excited! I absolutely LOVE Kwik Sew patterns and thrilled that they will be offered locally rather than my having to purchase them online or many miles from my home.

Date: 4/21/12 6:40 PM Yes, McCall's bought out Kwik Sew. All the patterns are the same price in the stores: $11.99. ($10.19 if a Club BMV Member)
Also, I just checked the Butterick/McCalls/Kwik Sew/Vogue website. Right now they have some clearance Kwik Sews for $4.00 + shipping. ($3.40 if you are a Club BMV Member) -- Edited on 4/21/12 6:43 PM -- |

Subject: JoAnns now carrying Kwik Sew patterns? Date: 4/26/12 5:04 PM I went to JA today and I'm still in shock KS is using the tissue paper!! ------ Relax, don't get your elastic all twisted up in your waistband!

Date: 4/26/12 6:13 PM KS = tissue! When did this start???? I find tissue is almost impossible to trace and I need to trace everything at this stage of my sewing. Well I hope they'll go on sale like the other tissues so I can purchase several at a time - a couple to sacrifice to the fitting goddesses and a final one to adjust and keep. |

Date: 4/26/12 6:55 PM I'll be happy if my local Joann sells KwikSew. Now, I drive to Delaware to buy them. I'm not happy about the tissue paper though. I trace all my patterns, and I prefer tracing from sturdier paper. Oh well, there is always a trade-off, isn't there? ------ I sew, therefore I am.

Date: 4/26/12 7:50 PM Hmm, good point Elaray! I didn't think about the fact that Joann will now have patterns for people who have a Joanns available and no Hancocks, since I've ordered all of my KS patterns online. I would purchase them each time fabric.com had a sale. *Once* I found a few old KS patterns at St. Vincents for $1.50 a piece and purchased the ones I thought might fit. They have the old "very dropped" shoulder from the 80's-90's, but what the heck. The Joann's isn't much closer to me than the Hancocks, but it does give me a 2nd store to find a pattern at.
But honestly, if KS becomes exactly like the few tissue patterns I've been trying....I don't know. I'm glad my first patterns were all KS, their instructions were so helpful, and I'm very happy I have a lot of KS's still waiting in my stash to try. I'm also happy that you and others will now be able to try them if you never have. :) |

Date: 4/26/12 8:24 PM My local JoAnn's didn't have them when I was there yesterday. I did notice that the more popular New Looks were on the wall and the single item Simplicities had disappeared. They may have put them into the drawers, but I do wonder how well they sold, since the price point on the regular patterns is usually .99 or $1.99.
That is too bad about the paper change on the KwikSews..I wonder if a change in the directions writing will come next? ------ 2009-113.25 yds

2012 86.3 yds..
