my new project require some serious starching. I'll be using rayon challis bergers ambiance. not sure if I need to starch ambiance, but rayon for sure.

there are soooooooo many starch optins and kinds to use i am utterly confused. any advice please. this is all confusing.

I am not sure if I should make my own or get the kind in a spray bottle. I can NOT dunk it in and then leave it out to dry. don't have the space or the muscles to squeeze it all out (I know, I know, I'm a super-whimp).

any ideas please?

Hi, Calendria. I recently had similar questions and got a lot of help here.

There's other good advice on the boards, too, if you search for 'starch.'

When it stops raining, I'm going to try laying out a sheet on the back deck and placing my fabric over it, spraying (planning on mixing my own, so at least I know what's in it, and can make it stronger if nec.), then allowing it to dry. I'll decide at that point if I want to iron it or not before cutting. To me, this seems like the method that needs the least muscle power and makes the least mess. (Haven't actually tried it yet, though.) But it sounds like you may not have a good space to do it this way.

Nancy Zieman uses and sells Mary Ellen's Best Press

I linked Hancocks because Nancy's Notions only sells the scented. It's works good and you can give fabric or clothes a 2nd spritz and iron for when you need very crisp. It leaves no residue or flakes.

I skimmed the other thread and did not see Mary Ellen's Best Press mentioned so thought I'd pass this on. I always think if Nancy uses something, it must be good.
