Simplicity 2508

I'm looking at this as a possible project since I almost never can find a coat to what I'm looking for. So, my plan of attack is to pick up some muslin (well, I need to get the pattern itself too) and was looking through yardage requirement list. Umm. What's the difference between coat vs. jacket. Seems the jacket is less yardage but isn't jacket like a coat? The pattern view doesn't seem to be showing as well. I looked through review on this and doesn't seem it's been addressed. Anyone have experience on this? Even better for those who has done this pattern to chime in! TIA!

Oh ::slaps head:: dur... I just probably answered my own question... Turns out jacket IS shorter than the short coat. On the envelope back, bottom of the screen, I didn't realize they had finished garment length! That would make a lot of sense! Looks like it might be "jacket" cut then.

Now to choose the rest of 'em, sleeves, collars, how the front will button up. Gah! :)

Yes, hurts. Shouldn't try and think so late in the night. I keep telling myself this and yet I never learn...

Yes, this is true! And putting yourself to bed helps:

More than once have I puzzled over a pattern, then decide to go to bed, and leave it for tomorrow.

And then, as I'm drifting off to sleep...the solution hits me! Clear as day!

Yea, so I've been told! Haha!

So far, I got the choices narrowed down to these: back jacket in C/D view, length (either jacket or short coat length), collar in C, front jacket probably with the off set button (not double breasted I don't think). I didn't choose the B or D since I'd like to also wear scarf.

I have left to choose: the button down style, middle or offset (probably the offset to work with the collar). I've not decided. Then there's the sleeves and pocket choices. I'm scouring through the internet and the reviews here to examine pictures and such. Maybe summer project for the upcoming winter. Could be! :D

Many of the Project Runway pattern reviews have mentioned that the recommended total yardage (main part + sleeve X + collar Y, etc.) is a bit excessive. You might want to lay out the pieces you decide to use before buying fabric.

That was exactly the review I saw as well so will be doing that. I believe it was a review suggestion from here when I looked into it. Thanks for chiming in!

Currently I am in a project for my aunt so will be finishing that first before I jump onto that as a next project.
