 Pre-Fall 2012
I got this nice thin Max Mara raincoat fabric from Mood, and was wondering if I could use the same fabric to line the garment.
Has anyone ever done or seen this: same fabric inside and out? Thoughts about it?

I'm making a separate buffalo plaid vest from Simplicity 5376
Again, I'm thinking about using the same thin raincoat fabric as both the fashion fabric AND the lining. Anyone ever do this, or have thoughts about this?

Date: 5/4/12 10:43 PM I've never done it, but it seems like it could work. Two layers of raincoat fabric wouldn't be anywhere near as bulky as wool coating plus lining. Also, raincoat fabric is fairly smooth. Maybe you could assemble a test piece, including interfacing, and see what you think? |

Steal away! (after all, I'm cribbing it from Stella...)
You can find the pattern on eBay.
I'm making the coat in a brownish green with a removable white stand up collar.
Instead of green buffalo plaid, I bought white buffalo plaid to make the separate vest.

Date: 5/5/12 10:44 AM I used a Vera Wang techno-faille (which had a very raincoat-y feel to it) for the exterior and lining fabric for a dirndl bodice- it worked well. I think it would depend on the fabric though- the plasticized stuff might cook you, but the nylon that sheds water would probably be fine. |

Date: 5/5/12 11:54 AM The Paco Peralta's T coat pattern is almost identical to your inspiration piece. My only qualm about using the same fabric for lining would be breathe-ability in rainy weather. If that doesn't seem like an issue, go for it. ------
