I just bought my first piece of bengaline last weekend. The care instructions said machine wash cold/air dry or dry clean. I dont dry clean unless I have no other choice. Its a poly/rayon/lycra blend from JA's. Has anybody that's bought this put it in the dryer?

I tried looking on other fabric sites and googling and gotten so many different care instructions it'll make your head spin!

Thanks,
Debbie

It dries fairly quickly so I'd air dry it rather than putting it in the dryer and taking the chance that the lycra won't breakdown over time.

I agree. Air drying is best and it dries very quickly, even indoors. If you put it in the dryer it creates a lot of static.

Because of the lycra I really only dry for about 15 minutes on low. Just enough to take some of the dampness out.

Thanks,
Debbie

Ooh, good to know about the static! I really don't want static in pants or anything else for that matter.

I'll hang to dry just like I do my jeans w/lycra.

Thanks,
Debbie

I dry bengaline in the dryer all the time. It comes out great. I pre- wash it before making any thing from it to avoid shrinkage, but I have pants that have been washed every week for many months with no damage whatsoever! Now my dryer is very good and doesn't over heat so maybe that makes a difference. I know some rayon really is better being hung to dry but I sure haven't had any trouble with bengaline from JoAnn's or fabric.com. I do hang jeans to dry because they never quit shrinking, no matter how many times I pre-wash and dry!
Just my experience.
