Date: 5/4/12 7:15 PM I will be traveling to the Anchorage/Denali area in late May/early June. We will spend 6 days touring Anchorage and Denali National Park. We will then board a ship and spend 7 days cruising the Inside Passage to Vancouver. Can you please tell me what type of weather I should expect? I plan on taking a short raincoat, a windbreaker jacket, a few sweater sets (one silk, one acrylic, one cashmere), jeans, dress trousers and a few dressy tops, a few short sleeved knit tops and also a few long sleeved knit tops. Would this be suitable for the weather at that time of year? Thank you for any and all input. |

Date: 5/4/12 11:49 PM I suggest you dress in layers. DH and I took an Alaska Cruise in May or June, several years ago. Juneau, Ketchikan, and Skagway were all having a heat wave of 90°F. I was so glad I packed one pair of shorts, at DH's suggestion (to wear on the ship). They were worn in every port. |

Date: 5/5/12 1:44 AM I was there one July and although the temps can get higher, you will be by a lake, river, mountain, glacier (really, really cold) or ocean breeze near a glacier. I never wore my shorts and jackets were my most popular item. It they say glacier, stick a pair of gloves in your pocket. ------ My hope is to sew to the very end. They'll find my head slumped over my precious Kenmore 19606 and have to pry the seam ripper from my cold, dead hands. |

Date: 5/6/12 4:23 PM Thank you so much Doris and Cathy for your replies. I will pack both a pair of shorts and a pair of gloves. We had planned to take scarves, but I never thought of gloves. I will be dressing in layers, and I think that I will also includes a light weight wool jacket for both dinner on the ship and to wear under my rain jacket for warmth. We are going with dear friends, so it should be a great trip.

Date: 5/6/12 6:21 PM Although it sounds crazy, there is a part of the cruise where you are actually in the open sea before you get to the Inside Passage. I wished I had something for seasickness.
