I'm looking for something similar to a ponte that's a pure bright white. All the pontes I've looked at are a winter white.

I've done a number of searches and found a few things that might work (samples first though) unless anybody has suggestions.

You might look at this. It's heavier than the more common Sophia ponte. I would call it a true bottom weight. I bought some last fall when I was in NY, and would love to have more.ponte bottom weight
Don't let the description put you off, it's a rayon lycra blend

Thanks for the suggestion. I ordered a couple of samples. It sounds like a mystery knit that I got at Walmart a few years back for $1 yd. I got 8 yds. and wish I'd of bought the whole bolt! It wears like iron and washes beautifully.
