Date: 5/12/12 9:18 PM I have become obsessed with vintage inspired dresses. So, even though I am plus sized, I want to make Vogue 2903 for a late June wedding. I am stuck on choosing a fabric. I want something that has that vintage look as well. What patterns/prints were popular for this dress style? |

Date: 5/13/12 1:24 AM I could see this made up in polished cotton, or silk shantung, faille, or taffeta (in fact, the bridesmaids dresses at my cousin's 1958 wedding were almost just like this pattern, and they were taffeta).
Nice pattern, have fun with it! |

Date: 5/20/12 10:04 PM I would use flocked (in black) taffeta with a contrast of black velveteen at the neck. I'm sure the style will look lovely on you, but having the contrast band will give a focal point and bring the eye to your face as well. I'm sure whatever you choose, it will be beautiful! ------ Whatever I say, you keep on sewing! |
