Is there a pattern for a jean jacket that is a little more fitted? I made two of them and to me they just hang on me...no shape at all. I've had some striped cotton in my stash, I think a twill with a little stretch that I would love to sew a casual jacket out of. Any suggestions?

I don't have a specific pattern suggestion, but if you can't find one... how about taking a jacket pattern whose shape you already like, and just making it up with classic jean jacket details (lapped seams, topstitching, patch pockets w/buttons, etc)?

(Your fabric sounds cute; my favorite RTW jacket is a classic jean jacket made from apple green Tencel!)

How about 1987 by Marfy?

The KwikSew one is very classic and is not so fitted, it's roomy in the shoulders in my experience. I have made two. (but not reviewed )

I can think of two. McCall's have a Palmer Pletsch jacket that appears fitted and is very cute. And Vogue 1036 is a Today's Fit pattern with some interesting piecing on the sleeves - it's a gorgeous jacket.

Trudy's 317 is cute. I couldn't find where anyone has reviewed it though. Some people didn't give Vogue 1036 very good reviews. Marfy has a cute one but I can't see paying $20 for a pattern. I like to sew to save money!

It's McCall's 5860. I have made it and the princess seams allow you to achieve a great fit.

Ooh, I like the Mccalls one. It does look a little more fitted...not so boxy. Thanks!
