I'm looking for new pajamas for my little boy. He was fitting really well into the Carters snap up footie pajamas, but he's outgrown the 9 month size. Starting at 12 months, they are only zip up and the non flame resistant ones have really tight arms and legs that look uncomfortable. I don't really mind the zip as it is definitely easier, but it doesn't seem to fit as well over his bulky cloth diapers. I certainly don't want him sleeping in flame resistant chemicals.

So.. I'm looking into making some. If I'm good about not wasting his nap time I can get it done. I do want him to be comfortable and sleep!!

Does anyone have any pattern suggestions? My son is long and lean and our nighttime diapers are pretty bulky (bumgenius stuffed to the gills). I have the KwikSew Sewing for Baby and they do have a pattern in there.

I've thought about 2 piece pj's but I'm worried that the shirt will just bunch up under his arms as he moves around, and that the pants waistband will curl under his diapers and wick. I want to do all I can to keep him from waking up unnecessarily as he already wakes up plenty. :)

Thanks everyone!

Kwik sew envelope or baby book are good, well drafted and fit over cloth diapers. Vintage patterns also will have the old style where the top snaps to the pants in a few places. I tried one of those patterns last winter with good results. You could take any 2 piece and just add snaps though to snap them together.

Ottobre magazine also has zip and snap pajamas, often up to size 2 range, occasionally larger.

Thanks. Maybe I'll try the KwikSew one before I go buy anything else. Although suggestions are still welcome! :)

I forgot about Ottobre.. maybe I'll look into that. Can I buy single copies from anywhere?

The Wooly Thread and Sewzannes both sell single copies of Ottobre, other places too I'm sure.

You can also buy direct from the Ottobre website. I have ordered from them plenty of times. Shipping has always been fast.

This a great, easy bootie pattern, which makes the jammies last longer when the babes grow, so I make the 2-piece sets. They stay on better than low ones because there is a hidden elastic inside. Fast in fleece, flannel, also good for dressy in pleather materials.

sew-whats-new.com. Non-skid sole booties, from dorothy come-what- may blog, you don't need non-skid til they walk.
