Date: 5/16/12 4:03 PM Hello there sewists, I'm new to this site - but loved reading the reviews before I purchased my latest machine a Brother Innov-is 950D. I love to sew - and like to embroider. Found a few users group at have free designs that I'm trying out. My problem is that I would like to start digitizing my own designs, but right now I'm just not ready to shell out near $1000 for software (i.e PE Design Next). I've been trying Buzz Tools-Buzz Size demo and I'm thinking of buying it. It's so easy!! Does anyone else tried it or can advise a similar product that I can look at. Thanks for your input. |

Date: 5/16/12 5:21 PM My son used a Buzz-Tools demo a few years ago. I have no idea how difficult it was for a total newbie (he is an artist and is neither a sewer/one who sews nor an embroiderer). But he turned over his muscle car drawings into embroidery in a few hours.
The BT designs stitched out as well as can be expected from an auto-digitizing product.
Universal Stitch Era has a free program (try Coldesi), but I think it is too difficult to use without lessons. Free software -- Edited on 5/16/12 5:34 PM -- |

Date: 5/17/12 1:03 PM Thanks for your input. I'll try Stitch Era. I've noticed there is a wiki online to walk you through digitizing. I cannot find a dealer near me to give me a demo and pricing. But it looks interesting. Is there another software that you've used or are using that is fairly easy for digitizing, editing and management? |

Date: 5/17/12 9:23 PM I also like Embird - relatively inexpensive and you can learn from tutorials. The nice thing is that I have a janome machine that uses jef format and Brother machine that uses pes format and Embird can do any format. ------ Elna Excellence 740, Pfaff Quilt expression 4.0, Janome 300E, Brother 8500D, Janome 900CPX CoverPro, Brother 5234 Project Runway Serger, Singer Treadle
