Hello,
today I bring Mega hoop home. It is huge and no clear instructions. I feel so stupid just looking at it and not knowing where to begin
I'm new at embroidery, got my firs embroidery machine last month. It wasn't very hard to learn using hoops that came with my Bernina 580 and I managed to make some cute designs on T-shirts and other kids clothing , but this "Mega thing" makes me think, that probably I jumped too far
Please, help me to understand what do I need in order to use it ?
I have Embird 2003, stabilizers , lots of designs. My husband got me Embird and crazy amount of designs.
So where do i start with that "Mega thing" ?

The first thing to understand with the mega-hoop is you are actually sewing three separate designs, but without re-hooping. You set the hoop to the top position, sew your first design. When the first design is finished you move the moop to the middle position, sew the second design and lastly move the hoop to the bottom position and sew your third design. To do this you need three separate embroidery files loaded on your 580.

To begin what I would suggest, is buy an embroidery design that is already set for the mega-hoop. That is a Bernina design that is three separate files. This way you can learn how the hoop itself works, before getting into the software side.

After doing this you can then move onto learning how to split a single design into three separate files for the mega hoop using your software. HTH

Thank You.
Do you know where to find those Bernina designs ?
I was hoping to use it on my current project. I'm making knit dress for my daughter and even got lots of butterflies designs for it. I guess I'll have to do it with smaller hoops. But I'm really willing to learn using mega hoop, so I need those special designs just to understand how to use that hoop.
Any yotube tutorials would help, but I can't find any

Your 580 might have one or more built in designs for the mega hoop. If it does that is a great starting point, even if you are not particularly fond of the design. It helps you learn. You might also join the Bernina "numbers" yahoo group. That is a great resource for helpful tips and is for all machines, not just the ones in the title. I saw you are on the 5 series group, but that is not as active. The other group has a lot of files with advice, etc. Bernina numbers group

I believe the 580 supports the mega hoop as an 'auto-split' hoop. All the files I have worked with are just one file, and the file and machine work together to tell you when to re-position the hoop. If Embird has an option for auto-split hoop, the files should be created the way the machine needs them.

Good luck and enjoy learning and using your hoop and the 580. It is great fun!

Thank you ladies for the replies.
I didn't use mega hoop yet. I'll do it next week, after Memorial day trip to Vermont.
Yesterday I was doing little embroidery and finally understood why my tread is braking sometimes ! While embroidering, I was looking at the thread spool. It was placed on horizontal pin, with mesh. Thread got tangled and broke ! I replaced the tread on vertical pin with no mesh, threaded throe the hook, before going to tension disc and it made a huge difference ! Now I can leave it alone while embroidering

I used Mega hoop yesterday. It was very easy to combine few designs for it. The only harder part was to hoop it .

I used mega hoop on this dress. It was hard to hoop fabric in correct place, but I hope with more practice I'll get better results

Nicely done! I don't see any problems with it. I must confess that I've had my mega hoop for eons and rarely use it. Guess I should get it out of the box?

Lovely!!! Very well done. Knits are not the easiest to embroider and you did a great job.

Thanks. Get it out, it is fun to use if you manage to line it properly. I was hooping 5-6 times and still one butterfly is higher then the other It's ok, since this is first time I used it, and my daughter won't see that mistake

My Bernina is going the dealer shop for bobbin sensor reaper. What I'm I going to do without it ? I hope it's a quick repair
