where do I find it??? Also, where is the cheapest place online to buy lycra? The local selection seems to get worse every year! Thanks!
I'm fairly new to sewing but I am finding it to be fun and rewarding!

Rockywoods.com has a selection for the men. I'm not sure on the lowest prices, but Spandex World has good fabric, and Spandex House is well regarded as well. Spandex World does have a better clearance section (Spandex House is like a 15 yard minimum).

In the past I have purchased swim wear fabric for making swim suits for my grandsons from Chez Ami. http://www.chezami.com
This company sells RTW clothing and also some of the fabric that they use in their clothing. After I made a few boy's board short suits, we found that when the boys went swimming that air would catch in their suits and the sides of the suits would blow up like mini balloons while in the water. Don't know how to remedy this. The boys thought that this was funny, but I was very disappointed. The fabric was the fabric that this company used for their suits too. I would like to find fabric for boys suits where this does not happen, so I will be following this thread.
I have purchased nylon/lycra fabric on ebay for making girl's and women's suits. It has been very well priced, and I have found a good selection for both my daughters and granddaughter (age 7) It has been a few years since my purchase, but I think the company I bought from is in NJ and is called lycra4sale.

Seattle Fabrics seems to have some too - here is a link to the list of microsuedes they carry: http://www.seattlefabrics.com/outerwear.html#Micro%20Suede
They have hibiscus prints, camouflage, and solids. They also carry nylon supplex. I haven't ordered from them yet, but might do so - I am planning to make some board shorts soon.

When my son was young, I bought him several suits that had small grommets or eyelets in the sides to let the air escape. As I recall, there were two on either side of the side seam at or just below hip level.
