I am posting this for my mom. We went and looked at machines today. She really wants a combo machine and wants to buy local. Her local dealers are: Bernina, Viking and BabyLock/Pfaff(same dealer). We went to the BL/Pfaff dealer today. She fell in love with the Ellure Plus. She was quoted 1800 for the machine on sale(including unlimited classes). MSRP is much more. This is a Memorial Day sale. What is a good price for this machine? I have been reading on the forum and the more I read, the more I am seeing that most people are buying this machine for 1600 or in that range. I wonder if this is on sale or standard pricing?

Also, what other combo machines are in the 2000 or less range?? It would have to be a Pfaff, BL or Viking since those are the dealers she has close to her. TIA!

edited to add: Bernina was not added to the list due to the front loading bobbins and the higher price range. :)

I was looking at this machine recently and ended up going with the Esante by Babylock. The Ellure Plus is a really nice machine and is loaded with features. I was quoted $1695 for that machine and they ended up going to $1395. I felt it was a pretty fair price. Other dealers were quoting around the same and none of those said it was the sale price.

If your mother can spend a little more, I suggest taking a look at the Esante. It is an AWESOME machine without a real hefty price tag. I just picked mine up on Friday and have been sewing/embroidering non-stop. I paid $2495 which seems pretty standard for this model. It's the next model up from the Ellure Plus and is just like the Ellageo Plus, minus a color LCD screen and a few other things, like a quilting package. It's definitely worth looking at.

I would have to say my honest opinion is $1800 is WAY to much for the Ellure Plus, especially if the regular price I was quoted was $1695 before any discounts. I would keep shopping around and visit other dealers if your mom would really like this machine.

Another member has suggested printing out the machine reviews and bringing them to your dealer and show them what other people are paying as a bartering tool. Also, you might be interested in taking advantage of the financing Babylock has this weekend. 0% interest for 24 months on any purchases over $1000.

Thank you! That is what we were thinking too. 2500 is a little steep for her. She would like to keep it under 2K. :0) Good to know she doesn't have to buy this weekend to get a lower price. She will probably do as you suggested and print out reviews with the listed price. She's also planning to shop around to see what she can find. She's loving the Ellure Plus so far. :)

The Ellure Plus is really a great machine and I can see why your mom likes its. One advatage of the Ellure Plus over the models higher up is that it is relatively easy to transport. Let me just say that the Esante (as well as the Ellageo Plus and Ellegante) are HUGE. I'm grateful it comes with a hard case cover, but there is no way I'd be lugging this thing anywhere. It's the biggest machine I've owned and I know there are ones bigger than this.

I think your mom will love the Ellure Plus....In my opinion, and I researched quite a bit, it would definitely be on my radar for combo machines under $2k. Your really can't go wrong with it and if you get it for $1500 or less, that'a a totally fair price and a good deal, in my opinion.

Let us know if your mom ends up getting it! We'd love to hear how she likes it.

Thanks Jumby! She will likely lay away it... If she can get it for less then she was quoted. I really like Baby Lock machines. I seriously considered the Elizabeth when I was shopping for my SM. In fact, I would love one as a second machine but I can't justify that price for a second machine.

I am happy you like your machine!

I recently priced this machine and was quoted $1395 for it (not on sale). I ended up with the Brother Innovis 1250D which is the exact same machine except it comes with the Disney licensing for embroidery (BL is made by Brother - at least some of their machines are).

I think $1800 is way too high, IMHO. I would barter with the dealer and let him know that other people have gotten it for much less!

ETA: I LOVE LOVE LOVE my machine... it's basically the exact same and for a combo machine under $2k, I don't think you can do much better!
Keep in mind location as well... when it comes to price that it. It says you're in Utah which I wouldn't figure is much more expensive than the SF Bay Area (I would think we're more expensive), but if there is not a lot of competition in the area, that could drive the price up.

Keep us posted!!

Thanks Heather! Yes, I am in Utah but my mom is in MT. I am going to call my BL dealer to see what he is selling this machine for. I bought my Sapphire from him and I like their store a lot!

We are visiting this weekend so we went machine shopping. As far ad I know, her BL dealer is the only one in her immediate area. I am going to do a search and see where other dealers might bte. She is planning on looking at different machines, but she seems sold on this one.

I own the Ellure Plus and love it! When I bought it, I knew very little about sewing, but knew I wanted a combo machine because at some point I would want to embroider something. I have been very happy with it and no problems at all where I had to take it in. I bought it back in July of 2009 or 2010 and paid $1800, but didn't know I could barter such a purchase.

Thank you! I am happy to hear you like your machine. This machine seems to get decent reviews. She seems to really want this machine. She was open to paying 1800 until we discovered others were paying less. When she is able to buy it, she plans to barter to see what price she can haggle. :)
