Need help figuring out this pattern! from Lunch Bags! book

The pictures are SO not helpful. Is there anyone out there with this book who can help me? I'm a visual person and I read and re-read the directions but it's still not making sense!

So you are referring to this step, right?: 2. Referring to the Corner Construction Techniques (pages 118-119), stitch corners on each side of the bag. Turn the bag right side out. Press the top edge down 1/2''. That would be Technique 1: Cut Away Corner Squares. It's hard to explain, so I found a tutorial using the same technique and it has photos: The Crafty Cupboard: How To: Fabric Lunch Sacks So after you sew the side seams and bottom seam, press those seams open. Then pull the bag open forming a boxy shape (right sides in), and maybe you can see how the bottom corners are formed. The photos in the tutorial above show how the corners come together. Let me know if this helps. That is a nice design, btw.
