I'm making Simplicity 4059 (a doublet for the Renaissance fair) for my FIL. He has very narrow shoulders but a lot of girth, and in the past I've had good luck blending sizes on garments for him. But this pattern has side-back seams that are slightly curved like armhole princess seams, and the point at which I'd ease from one size to the other hits right in the middle of that seam. I'm concerned that they might not match up smoothly after I make the alteration.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks!!

I would trace it off, blending between sizes, and then before sewing "walk the seams" to make sure they are right.

It will be easiest to do if on the pieces in question you draw your seam line in.
