I found this site a couple months ago and am very impressed with all the helpful tips here. Looking forward to learning and hopefully contributing to the wealth of knowledge! Would love to hear from any other fellow sewists here in North Texas!
This site is AWESOME!

Date: 6/5/12 6:39 PM Hi Angela - you are joining a pretty big club. Seems a lot of us hung up our scissors for awhile and then returned. Hope you have as much fun sewing and PR-ing as we are. ------ http://bgballroom.wordpress.com to follow the progress on my next ballgown. |

Date: 6/6/12 5:26 AM Hi Angela, I sewed ("make it today wear it tomorrow") obsessively from a very young age then completely stopped for over ten years - originally because we moved house and I was swamped with curtain making. Feeling at a loose end one afternoon I opened some of the removal boxes containing my stash and found a half made skirt buried inside which I finished, wore and was complimented on . . . the rest is history.
I suppose I have become obsessed again - can't let a day go by without being in my peaceful sewing room turning a length of beautiful fabric into a desirable garment. I don't sew to save money - tantalising emails offering new fabrics, patterns at discount prices, trips away involving visits to fabric stores see to that - but it's my relaxation and cheaper than therapy! Welcome back |

Date: 6/6/12 6:02 AM How fun to find there's a whole thread for those of us returning to sewing after a long absence!
I started sewing seriously in college (therapy for a broken heart, lol) and for several years made most of my own clothes, being lucky that they fit right out of the envelope. Then I got sidetracked somewhere along the way. I would think about starting again from time to time, but dissatisfaction with fashions and fit issues that I had no idea how to tackle always kept me from doing much more than purchase a couple of patterns.
I'm really serious about it this time, and determined to figure out how to get a good fit. I'm so happy to have found PR and all the amazing resources on the web! ------ Bobbi |

Date: 6/6/12 9:45 PM I've also returned to sewing clothes after a long time of altering RTW clothes and making quilts. I'm so glad I found this site recently--I've learned so much already and I'm inspired to get back to garment sewing! (how come I have more fitting issues now than I did when sewing for myself 40 years ago? LOL) I think I'll need all the help I can get from the experts here! |
