Date: 6/6/12 11:37 PM Okay, I'm doing a vintage pattern-- Simplicity 1151 for my nieces, and the dress has puffy pockets. The instructions are brief... too brief really for something I haven't done a thousand times before, and I've yet to find a pattern that explains how to do this satisfactorily. Does anyone know how to do this? |

You can make these as deep as you want.
Simplest way is to run 1/4" elastic thru a tunnel on top to gather, then turn under the rest and stitch around.
Some pockets gather to a top band instead, which make it
a little dressier. I like the vintage pocket sometimes seen
on aprons, shaped like a crescent moon or 3/4 of a circle. You just sew these doubled, turn RSO. gather around the outside edge. |
