Date: 6/16/12 7:23 PM Good suggestion. You should message the mods of this area and maybe they will take it up with Deepika, or you could email her. ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Date: 6/17/12 9:37 AM Actually, it is not very busy at all that is why we keep them together. They both aid in sewing, but are not in the garment. Having too many specific boards actually makes it harder. Thanks for the suggestion though. ------ Sewing: A creative mess is better than tidy idleness. ~Author Unknown

Date: 6/19/12 2:09 PM Seems busier than most...much busier than, say, the quilting board.
I don't visit all the boards, but this one turns over relatively quickly. And patterns seem much different than notions to me.
Sorry you don't see it that way...so much for making suggestions! |

Date: 6/19/12 2:24 PM Thanks Sharon! Appreciate the reasoning. Makes sense! Yes, a proliferation of categories makes for more confusion. Nice that you gave us such a fast response!

Date: 6/20/12 0:04 AM How is a separation of patterns and notions a "proliferation" of categories? There are more postings on this board than any other. What other board is so filled? None that I found.
There has been one poster and 3 "likes" on my suggestion...none of which were my doing all before the rejection. How do we know who was the ONE "like" on your post?
I found out by accident on another thread that just clicking on "like"on causes it add another...and another...and another. So one can "like"on their own post over and over.
Why not do it the democratic way with one vote per member? Unless there is a better reason, such as the trouble it would take technically.
Just doesn:t make sense that dividing the busiest category on the board is a proliferation with so many other categories that are barely utilized at all. |

Date: 6/20/12 8:52 AM Please know your suggestion has been passed on to Deepika as the CEO of this site. The size of a thread has little to do with how busy it is. I get many more hits on a couple of the other threads I moderate than on this one. We just finished a major revamp of the site and Deepika is laying low for a while with back trouble. So, please don't be offended that people have not jumped all over your suggestion- it is not a simple fix to rewrite all the code for the threads. But rest assured, you have been heard. ------ Sewing: A creative mess is better than tidy idleness. ~Author Unknown

Not offended at all; in fact it seems more want it than those who don't.
" it is not a simple fix to rewrite all the code for the threads."
Well, I anticipated THAT! Tech never is easy, is it? It's a real love/hate relationship now; can't live with it, can't live without it.
I do appreciate everyone thinking about it and my sympathy to Deepika.
It's just that every time I look for a thread in this category, it seems a billion others have been posted since then!
Love this site and usually find all here are very open-minded.
Thanks again.

Date: 6/20/12 2:09 PM I agree on the splitting. Honestly don't see a connection between the two--Patterns and notions. Maybe notions could be combined with another topic. |
