Hi Angela,

I am so excited to see this class in video format! I am going to sign up right away - I just wanted to ask what type of pattern you recommend? Can you recommend a few?

Thanks!!

Was wanting to know if we will be able to download the videos for later viewing and if not how long they will be available for viewing once you register?

Hi Deb,
In the class I have a PDF with pattern suggestions and fabric ideas for summer and winter. The style I use in the video is similar to a jean jacket style with a yoke.
Also, the class is open forever so you can work around your schedule and watch what people post months down the road :)
This should be fun. Let me know if you have any other questions,
Angela

Thanks for your question, you cannot download the videos - but the class never closes. Once you sign up you can access the video and class board at any time, even months down the road. That is what makes this style of class so great, you can sew when you have time and around your schedule :)

Hi Angela...just wanting to know how much sewing experience a person needs to take this class. I am a beginner but a visual learner. Thanks!

Hi Kim,
Thanks for your question. The class does not cover basic sewing instructions, but it shows other tips and techniques for improving the final garment: like pressing, topstitching, easing the sleeve, etc. If you are a visual learner I think you will like the class. I walk you through all the steps for a Jacket from cutting to the final buttons.
Let me know if you have any further questions. Hope you join us :)

Subject: Jacket in video Date: 7/17/12 1:08 PM

Hi Angela,

This class sounds fun and another PR friend and I are interested in signing up. We would both really like the jacket you are wearing in the video. Is that a current pattern available that we can use for the class?

Many thanks,
Dorcas

Subject: shoulders and armholes Date: 7/20/12 12:33 PM

Hi Angela,
I'll be signing up for this class, and I have a pattern for a lined princess seam jacket which I'd like to convert to unlined. I'm happy with my pattern fitting alterations, with the exception of the shoulders. They just aren't quite right - there was more fabric to ease into the shoulder than I could muster, so I ended up gathering the sleeve cap at the shoulder point and calling it a design feature. (Reducing the sleeve cap made the sleeve uncomfortable and limited movement.) I can probably tweak and fudge a bit on my own, but wanted to know if you'll be offering any fitting advice in the class? I know that could be a separate class on its own, so I don't want to take away from your agenda.

thanks!
Quathy

Will the specific pattern used in video be available. I think it is great looking and especially like the uniqueness of the collar. Thanks, Lee

Hi Quathy,
The class will not cover fitting, but I do have a jacket muslin class this starts every other month that helps with that. When I tried adding fitting in the class it took away from project and students were getting frustrated.
But on a side note, I know exactly what you are talking about with too much sleeve cap ease. Have you lowering the sleeve cap? You can trace your original pattern and then lower the amount at the upper sleeve cap curve. It's really simple and this has worked for me. Let me know if you have any questions on that. Hope to see you in the class :)
