Just for fun.... Show us the first pattern you ever remember using.

I loved this pattern so much I couldn't stand it. When I ran across a vintage pattern collection, I began to look for it, and it took me a week to find it. Once I did, though, I realized that if I would have thought about it, I would have even remembered the number to it. I will buy this pattern again if I can find it remotely in my size. Let's see everyone's patterns, whether it was from when you sewed "before" or you just bought your first seam ripper! McCalls 3838 Edit: Tanitisis, I KNOW you have this pattern. I don't know the brand or number of the first pattern I ever used (a long prairie skirt in 8th grade home ec)... but I do still have a couple of my very next projects from that same era. I'll have to see if I can root them up! The first pattern I used once I got back to/started sewing seriously, about 8 years ago now, was Simplicity 7756: ------ ~Gem in the prairie

That was a favorite of mine too (way back when). I made a bunch of those shirts-they fit then. I don't remember what the first pattern was that I used. I do remember that we sewed a peasant style shirt and an elastic skirt in 7th grade home ec. All elastic and easy to sew. It will be fun to see what other people remember!

I'm pretty sure I made the A-line skirt, in purple. I seem to recall I wore it for ages, until it died. here I made a sleeveless flowered button-front blouse at the same time (little purple flowers... am I dating myself?), but I have no idea what pattern it was. A wrap-around cotton skirt with a red/black bandana print. Mom saw I was serious about sewing & decided a wkend visit to Grma. might be a good idea for my next project! Grma. enjoyed sewing. A V-neck top with short dolman sleeves and a pair of matching pants. Probably looked like of set of scrubs, but I loved that outfit! I thought it was pretty funny a couple a months ago when I was searching through a bunch of vintage patterns and found the gi pattern with the sunset and bonsai from the Karate Kid movies. I loved that movie when I was a teenager and I also had that pattern. I spent months embroidering that sun-and-bonsai on the back off my favorite black poplin jacket.
