We are planning on being in St. Louis next month, and I'd love to do some fabric shopping. I found a thread on STL fabric stores, but it is 5 years old. Any current recommendations? I'm planning on going to Jackman's but they seem to be quilt-focused and I'm not a quilter (probably a good thing for my budget since I pass by Hancock's of Paducah several times a week). I vaguely remember Fashion Fabrics Club having a store of sorts but is it still there? We're staying near Forest Park but I don't mind driving a bit for a great experience.

Well, the City Museum is the very best thing in St Louis. No fabric (a little vintage shop is on the 3rd floor) but an awesome day to act like a kid.

Tower Grove Park is really lovely. If you want to see it all, go during the week. If you want to see bridal parties come for photo shoots, Saturday afternoon has great people watching.

For the IL side, you aren't missing anything. Nothing much past Hancock's, JoAnns, Hobby Lobby, Jackman's and a few little quilt shops.

Sew It Seams - 10702A Manchester Road, Kirkwood, MO 314-822-1213. Cindy is the owner & is great. Lots of interesting fabrics grouped by colorway. Usually lots of knits & silks. You never know what you'll find:)

I typed in Fabrics in my search engine and got:

http://www.thecityofstlouis.com/fabrics/index.html

Fashion Fabrics 15 years ago, had only certain days it was open, but this makes it look like it might have a separate business now. You could probably call.

Bumping this to ask for an update on the current fabric store situation in St Louis. Headed there next month and really hoping to find some quality apparel fabric.

Jackman's is still there & they do have some garment fabric. Unfortunatly, Sew It Seams closed @ the end of 2012.

Try Eunice Farmer. She is legendary in the st louis garment sewing world. Her daughter runs the shop now.

Sadly Sew it Seams closed in the past few months. Jackmans has some garment fabrics. Several JoAnn's and Hancock in town.

If you like quilting fabric there is an incredible store called The Quilted Fox. http://www.quiltedfox.com/shop/Fabrics.htm
