Date: 7/2/12 0:48 AM Hi Michelle,
Congratulations on the new baby. Enjoy every moment with her because they grow so fast. My "babies" are 9 & 10 years old. How lucky that you have a little girl. There are so many cute items that you can make for her.

Date: 7/2/12 10:31 PM find the local ASG (American Sewing Guild) meetings for your area. ASG has both a general meeting and Neighberhood groups in many areas of San Diego. It is a national organization that encourages sewing and friendships. |

I miss SD. We only lived there for 3 years, and we have been gone for 13 years, and I still miss it.
I hope you find some fun people to sew with you. ------ Berninas 830LE ♥ Artista 630PQE ♥ 930 Record ♥ Juki TL2010Q ♥ Pfaffs Creative Performance ♥ Passport 2.0 ♥ Singers 221 ♥ 301 ♥ 500a ♥ Kenmore 1040 ♥ Elna 'Grasshopper' ♥ Tacsew T500 ♥ Babylock Evolution |

I hope you find some fun people to sew with you. I could see how you would miss the San Diego area. I have lived here for quite a while and for the most part I love it. It has great weather, nice people, near the ocean and lots to do outside.
But, I really haven't met many people who like sewing (other than quilters). I know they are out there. Otherwise, why would the sewing machine stores I visited when looking for a new machine have so many machines on layaway!

Date: 7/11/12 10:40 PM Hi Wanttosewagain, I am also from the San Diego area. So far, I have personally met Michelle (michellep74) and Susan (knittersdelight) and I am certain there are more PR members from San Diego county. Being expansive and populous can explain why it is hard to find and get together people who like sewing. I have resisted joining Facebook and finally gave in recently to the idea that it became a convenient way for family and friends to keep in contact with me. For instance, cousins from the midwest who I have not seen since 1987 now know my whereabouts.
To keep the sewing interest alive, I started a San Diego Sewing Interest group (posts are only available to members and not shown to the public) on Facebook (FB). Originally from meetup.com (special thanks to Christine for starting, organizing events, and her commitment), but due to rising fees of maintaining the sewing interest group at this site and lack of participation and interest (except for 2-5 people who regularly participated in the venues) it was discontinued. People talk about wanting to get together, but could not make it when opportunities arise. I took the initiative and with the few members we have, at least it will be available to anybody with a sewing interest and at any sewing level.
Just do a search on FB and If you are not member, just PM me, and I can update you on future events. ------ my retro sewing blog:
