Flat Bungee Office Chair with Arms
I've sat in this chair. Even with the non adjustable arms it is amazingly comfortable. Maybe worth the gamble since I keep two chairs in the sewing room anyway.
Still new to me.
An ''L'' of adjustable Elfa in one corner of the sewing room. Hubbie cut one inch marine grade plywood for the work surface. Rock solid and so convenient when he adjusted one area down this past week to accommodate a touchy shoulder.
A week old and working great.
EcoSmart 8-Watt (50W) Warm White (3000K) BR20 LED Flood Light
From Home Depot. Very pricey at $25.00! But the compact fluorescent bulbs don't work in our home - they go out within days, weeks, or months; sometimes hours. This LED bulb in my little desk lamp is doing exactly what it was bought to do. Provide oodles of light without producing heat. Old standard lamp, new bulb. Now, I just hope that it is long lasting.
Almost forgot.
Titanium Easy Action™ Scissors (No. 8)
Bought a pair for myself and for Christmas gifts when JoAnn's had them for a ridiculously cheap price just before Christmas. Broke the cardinal rule and used them for something else. Ohhh, they cut through my Kinesio Tape like butter. The Kinesio's sticky adhesive is no problem and I can cut the Kinesio about three times faster. Naturally I purchased a new 'sewing only' pair when they were 60% off. A good investment. ------
I have no idea what Apple thought I was saying so be a Peach and credit anything bizarre to auto correct. |

Date: 7/5/12 9:16 PM I like those Clover clips they are so cute. The Hugo tape I use on some of my cone spools which do not have caps for keeping thread ends. The narrow works great for filled bobbins too.
I use those Friskar Scissors at my local quilt shop where I've been working part time. I love how sharp the edge stays and how easy they are on the hands. I am thinking about getting a pair for my sewing room. Those and the nips ------

Oh, and I scored 6 wood knick-knack shelves of various sizes at garage sales a couple of weeks ago for some of the sewing items like vintage pincushion, notions, Singer attachments, etc. I waffled on painting them first, but decided to put them up as is.
I've wondered about those titanium scissors - picked them up and put them down several times now. Maybe next time they'll stay picked up.
edited to add: forgot about the sewing chair with flip-up seat and wheels at garage sales also. For being so "old fashioned" it's surprisingly comfortable.

Subject: Whats New in the Sewing Space Date: 7/5/12 11:05 PM I resisted the Wonder Clips, as I have used some clips that are like barrettes for years with great success and satisfaction. But WOW, those clips are even better. Really stay put. Absolutely ingenious. Very well made.
Have Fiskars snips similar to those, maybe not titanium. They are SHARP. Nice, but not forcthe clutzy... ------

Date: 7/6/12 8:15 AM Great thread.. there are always new notions and other items we use in our sewing room coming on the market.
I added on more bookshelf for my stamps.. custom built to fit in my closet.. But alas,, blew my budget on that new Bernina.. so along with having too much stuff already.. won't be adding much more. For now.. lol
However I also need to do something about more lighting in the middle of my room..
And if the heat continues or gets worse.. this year I may reinstall my old window AC..
i always grab new scissors when I can.. on sale or with a coupon..
Oh. and I am buying fabric paints.. all new craft paints in fact.. my older bottles are drying out now.. Lots of new brands and colors out .. I only wish they would not discontinue those colors I have used so much in the past.. That happens to me with make up too.. |

Date: 7/6/12 9:15 AM I discovered Hugo's Amazing tape a few years ago right after it came out was recommended to me for putting around the bigger thread spools of embroidery thread. That stuff is amazing so many uses.
I am currently trying to find a new table. I have the one they sell at Joanns, I brought it probably 8 years ago and it's become wobbly and takes up so much space. I guess I don't need a smaller table but a bigger room. ------

Date: 7/6/12 10:31 AM The best way to see all the new stuff in one day, if you have the opportunity, is to go to one of the big sewing and/or quilting conferences or shows. Not sure where you are in TX, but there are two big ones in Houston this year: the ASG conference next month and of course Houston International Quilt Festival which this year is the first weekend in November. I know there are more in the Dallas area, too.
If you get a chance to come to Quilt Festival, plan a whole day just to shop. There will be something like 20 aisles of vendor booths. Every major sewing machine manufacturer will be there (if you want to try something that's not common locally like a Juki , here's your chance). The show floor and vendor area don't start until Nov 1, but classes start Oct 29. All my favorite scissors vendors have demo booths - a great opportunity to try them all.
My class catalog came yesterday - I'm so excited! ------
