Date: 7/6/12 7:12 PM I have you triend Piecemakers in Costa Mesa California. Not only do they have silk ribbon (in probably every colour under the sun!) but they also have some wonderful how-to books and other supplies. I think their website is www.piecemakers.com. They are very nice there. Hope this helps. ------ Kemish |

Date: 7/7/12 7:23 AM I have purchased silk ribbon from many sources:
thread art, ribbonsmyth, evening star designs, and ebay.
By the way, if anyone knows of a good way to prewash the silk ribbons so that the color never runs, please let me know. I have tried water and vinegar, then setting the color in the microwave as well "Retayne". I am not quite happy with either method as I feel they weaken the ribbon.

1 member likes this. Date: 7/29/12 10:33 AM I purchased most of my Silk Ribbon Stash on ebay.
I use silk ribbon in a variety of projects and it is disappointing that Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and the fabric-store-that-shall-not-be-named no longer carry silk ribbon.

Date: 7/29/12 11:17 AM Thanks Kemish, I ordered it from Piecemakers. They are fast and had just what I needed. I didn't order enough so had to place a second order. They shipped my ribbon just as fast the second time around.
I am making a pillow and need to pratice as I have not done silk ribbon embroidery in years and years. It is so pretty. ------ Ada

Date: 7/29/12 11:28 AM Susan, how very beautiful your silk ribbon embroidery is. Wish I had a smidgen of the talent that it took to do your example. Look at all that bead work incorporated into the design. Gorgeous.
I had saved all my ribbon, thankgoodness, from when I was doing ribbon embroidery a long time ago. Held onto my books on how to do ribbon embroidery also. ------ Ada

Date: 8/1/12 6:10 PM Thank you for the lovely compliment!
Sounds like you are another "Stasher" - because you just never know when that ribbon/book/bead/etc., might be just the "right" embellishment for a future project!
I also saved my books. I get them out once in a while to just spend some time browsing - usually a quick fix for any lapses in creativity! ------ The Destashification Project - Stash Couture! |
