Date: 7/8/12 11:50 AM I just realized I have to be IN that event I'm working on for work. Oups!
So I'm seriously considering V8280 but am too lazy to click through all the reviews here to find the Petites who made it.
For reference, I'm 5', I believe a proportionate Petite hourglass, around a size 36 in Burda or a Big 4 size 10 (lost some weight due to diet change).
Anyone similar who made this, please raise your hand...and point me to your review/blog, please! TIA! ------ Fashion Maté, where I blog about what I (eventually) sew : http://fashionmate.blogspot.com

Date: 7/12/12 6:56 PM @dbsewer: It's the Roland Mouret Galaxy Dress knock-off, actually.
@Diahn : Thanks so much for the link. Love what you did with the fabric, makes a fauxlero look.
I'm at the muslin stage and, predictably, the neckline is problematic. ------ Fashion Maté, where I blog about what I (eventually) sew : http://fashionmate.blogspot.com

Date: 7/30/12 6:01 AM Ok, I worked on the dress all day yesterday. Despite the crazy heat. But I have to be done with this dress by the 7th of Aug.
I'm making View B, straight neckline and straight skirt. In Charcoal 6.5oz denim. Yes, I love subversion! (and tweaking my nose at Protocol. They said "dark clothing", after all!)
Initially, I traced and cut a size 12 but it's too big. So I took it in at the side seams an extra 1cm (approx 3/8in) and it fits better. TIGHTER but better. This isn't an Eating Dress.
I also basted the whole dress together (except the sleeves) in the fashion fabric to test out the flange. And it's still weird. I also took in the bodice neckline down to a 6 at the upper armscye corner.
Since I was alone, I used Sarai @ Colette Patterns trick of using safety pins to attach the flanges to the side neckline.
I just want confirmation that the first 5cm or so of the bodice lower armscye must match the first corresponding 5cm of the flange lower armscye.
I might have marked the pattern pieces wrong because it seems like the double notches on the flange place it lower than the side seam+lower armscye corner of the bodice ie the flange and bodice don't overlap perfectly there.
Hum a bit hard to explain without images but I'm talking about my underarm area, on the bodice.
Anyone? -- Edited on 7/30/12 6:08 AM -- ------ Fashion Maté, where I blog about what I (eventually) sew : http://fashionmate.blogspot.com

Date: 7/31/12 1:36 AM I'm a bit behind you Lakaribane.
I cut out the 12 last night. Long sleeve, sweetheart neckline with sleeve caps. I may need to make it smaller, but I'll know soon enough so I can't say at the moment ------ Alias - velogiant;http://cleverthinking99.com/
