Date: 7/14/12 1:32 PM Tnx, nice tut for a mitered banding.
What I'm hoping to find is how to overlap a contrast banding in the v of a v-neck style scrub. I see the neckline in manufactured scrubs but need to find out how to make the neckline for scrubs I'm going to be making. |

Date: 7/14/12 4:38 PM I've always used the KwikSew scrubs pattern. It has you cut two bands for the front neckline. One end of the bands, when folded along the length of the band, forms a 45-ish degree angle. One band is placed on top of the other, and the band is stitched to the V-neck of the scrubs front.
I highly recommend the KS pattern. A little roomy, but dropping down 1/2 size makes it just right. http://kwiksew.mccall.com/search-pages-3314.php?search_term=2807&submit.x=20&submit.y=15 ------ “Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.” -Robert Heinlein and Ann's father. Thanks for the reminder, Ann.
Where are we going, and what am I doing in this handbasket?

Hope this helps. I found nearly identical directions in my mother's old Stretch and Sew book from the 70's. It makes the most professional mitered finish I've ever found. |

Date: 7/15/12 8:40 PM I picked up Simplicity's 5443 yesterday, the instructions for the neck I'm looking for seems to be clearly written. My machines are in the shop right now for servicing. It's been years since I've sewn and I'm really looking forward to spending time with my dear friend "Bernina and Juki" again, I've missed them :-) Tnx for the time to reply here, see you again soon I'm sure.
