What are your thoughts on this dress pattern in the July 2012 issue of Burda Style? Upon first glance, I thought it was cute and very vintage looking , but then the more I look at it, it looks a little costumey.

It looks like a throwback to the late 60s-early 70s, but I find the combination of pleats, four different colors, plus that insane contrast buttoned band over the low-slung belt just too much for one little dress.

In one or two colors, and with either the belt or the button band--but not both--fine.

I think it would be adorable in say, black and white maybe with a gold accent. Maybe a solid with a stripe on the bottom.

I remember color blocked dresses like that from the 60's but not with wood like buttons going down the contrast band.

(at least that's how those buttons look to me)

Another one finding the band with the buttons misses.

I'm with the rest of you...that white band with buttons is not necessary. It's amazing, what goes around comes around. I had a dress almost just like this(the style, not the colors)when I was in High School. I think that's about the age that can get away with wearing it. This model is having a hard time pulling it off...

Sorry but this model is too old for this dress. It reminds me of something a little girl should be seen in.

I kind of had a bad feeling about it. Thank you for confirming it for me. I will pass on it.

Apparently I'm the only one, but I love it. I would have loved it even more in 1967 when I was a freshman in college, but with sleeves I would wear it today.

The button band has to go!
