Also not to be missed: The Book Group, The In-Betweeners (kind of a coming of age comedy of teenage boys who are socially gawkish and very unlucky)--its hilarious, Spaced, Rosemary & Thyme, and Vera.

I am so jealous! We get very few of these shows in my area. BBC America is on late at night so I can record them, but there are very few. I've written to our PBS station but no help from them. Boo hiss! On a happier note, Downton Abby is nominated for some Emmy awards - I hope they ALL win!!

All these are on Netflix. I subscribe by the month for the instant service..not the mail out the DVD's. They usually have a free month's trial..you might try them..they can be irritating in some ways, but it's fun to watch the old favorites as well as new shows.

Thanks - I'll check it out. We get the Netflix movies by mail. Since DH enjoys movies vs. watching them on the computer, I'll check and see which ones are on DVD. DH isn't as much of a Brit fan as I am although he's coming around . . . . slowly. I can watch them while he's watching the Golf channel

Thanks for some new ideas. I just joined Netflix and am enjoying it tremendously. Just watched a six episode show from Australia ....Rain Shadow with Rachel Ward. Delightful.

Re: British movies - I have to watch them with DH so I can get translations. He's from New York, I'm from Texas, and I'm with Menkin who said something like only a common language separates Americans from the English.

Remember how we loved The Thorn Birds and what was that Kennedy one with Peter Strauss? Many don't get channels like HBO to have a choice.
Aaah for the Golden Age of classy US TV instead of the reality garbage
and violent cop shows out there now....maybe the BBC can buy up one of our networks??!!

PP will solve this problem when in office....
