I have been struggling for the last 15 min to hoop a towel in a 4x4 hoop. No matter how much I push, the hoop will not snap into place. The towel is simply too thick but this is a standard size towel that I know many people use for monogramming. Any tips??? Please help!

You can also use stablstick stabilizer it's the best way to go. Also use the topper so that the stitches don't sink into the towel.

You can use sticky stuff or even easier still, hoop up tear away stabiliser and use the basting function on your machine to baste the towel in place. You might want to use a spot of washable glue stick to hold it in place before basting or even a pin or two where the needle won't stitch.
Not all machines offer an auto baste feature but if yours does that makes it easy. Some software programs also allow you to create basting lines around a design when you are working with them in the computer.
Hooping towels is a really fast way to stretch and distort an embroidery hoop because they are so thick. I used to embroider a lot of hand towels years ago and always found it easiest to put the towel with the water soluble stabiliser on top so the needle doesn't snag the pile of the towel, baste it together, and then embroider.
Makes it nice and easy!
