Hi, I'd love some advice about fabric choice for the jersey rushed dress (112) in the May 2012 Burda magazine. I've got a lovely stone colored matte jersey that I would like to use. Reading the reviews, it sounds like a pretty snug pattern. Will matte jersey be stretchy enough? Thanks for your help.

Here's a pic of the dress from burda magazine.

Just add some more ease and you can cut larger side seams to adjust the fit.

The fabric I used was likely not as stretchy as the pattern intended, but matte jersey should be fine. The side seams are sewn towards the end of construction so it would be very easy to make adjustments if you add wider seam allowances as Nancy K suggested.

No, but you could watch early next year to see if maybe it will be released as an envelope pattern for spring. There's always a lag. And they don't make all the magazine styles into envelope patterns, so... maybe you know someone who would let you trace this from their issue?

Hi Nora,

You can buy it as a download here, if you don't mind pdf patterns:

Thanks for the advice! I was feeling pretty skittish about the fabric--am just coming off of a disastrous project because I made a bad fabric choice. (too large of print going a very wrong direction.) Couldn't stand to dive into something new and have the fabric kill it. Self doubt creeping in...

I'll add extra to the seam allowances. The matte jersey is so pretty, and I am hoping this will be a great travel dresses when it's done.
