Date: 7/24/12 5:28 PM I'm sure this has been discussed many times before, but who cares? I was finishing up a dress today in my machine-filled hideaway, and it occurred to me that if I were forced to decide on my single favorite machine, it would have to be my Babylock Imagine serger. Bounced back and forth between overlock and rolled hem all day, with three quick adjustments, boom! After struggling with a 4-thread combo Huskylock, this serger is just plain idiot-proof.

Date: 7/24/12 6:48 PM I'd have to vote for my 30 year old Elna Carina. It is a trooper thru thick and thin. But I still miss my original machine - a Singer portable (back when that needed to be said) bought it 1967. (mostly for the buttonholes, which were excellent - otherwise it was a little touchy).
I'd say you love the machine you learned on but I learned on a old, iron New Home of my mother's and have no good memories.
I think it is not only how the machine functions but the times you've spent with the machine. I like to think my Carina and I share a life.
I got a BabyLock Imagine a couple of years ago and tho I'm warming up to her - I can't say I totally trust her.

Bernina 240 & 130, Pfaff 1222E & 2020, Singer 503, Janome 3434D, closet way too full of spandex and I think there is a puppy somewhere in this mess. |
