Hi!
I first came across this tip on Pattern Review and used it with my first time sewing chiffon.
It was brought up by Lena Merrin of The Sewing Space.
I gave it a try and it worked!
I asked for Lena's permission to make a wee photo tutorial (I really like tutes with pics, lol!), and she said sure!
Here it is.

Hope this helps someone :)

Thanks so much to be both of you: to Lena for generously sharing her wisdom and to Jo for the great tutorial!

PS: the chiffon top looks lovely, Jo!

This is one of the coolest tricks I've ever heard - I'll be trying it soon! Thank you both for sharing this!

Thanks for the visuals. That works so much better for me.

I want to try this with some fabric I have been staring at. It is so odd that I have a hard time accepting that it will work. And iron it? That really freaks me out. I cannot imagine that the iron does not melt the gelatin. But so many PR members swear by it that it has to work.

Subject: The gelatin your chiffon tip tutorial! Date: 7/28/12 6:02 AM

Thank you for the tip, Lena, and for the tutorial, Pinkcatflower!
I heard that some people use starch for making dificult fabrics more manageable, and I was wondering what would be the difference between this and using gelatin?
