Even so, Burda and Manequim both have similar designs that look a lot better then some of these. |

Date: 7/29/12 2:36 AM Wasn't there someone on this board who intended to make her own wedding gown and wanted a cutout back bodice like the one shown here? |

Date: 7/29/12 3:09 AM Yes, Jann, view B of the Cynthia Rowley jacket has kidney-shaped holes at the shoulder blades. Pretty unusual. :)
I rather like the lines on the Khaliah Ali jacket and skirt. The made-up jacket is just ok, but the line drawing looks nice. ------ http://communingwithfabric.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 7/29/12 3:28 AM 1772 looks like a cheap Halloween costume, which is probably all that it's intended to be.

Project Runway patterns show a basic shift and basic coat. The Leanne Marshall dress is just another shirtdress and the Cynthia Rowley design is a basic jacket. For Fall. With holes. They could have at least included the second layer in the envelope. Steampunk = edgy Victorian styles and last I checked, no nylon nor lycra during Victorian period and their other costume offerings suck. No period historical patterns-- just fairytale costuming. Even the children's patterns are dull. And then we have the predictable patterns to sell trim. The It's So Easy was also subpar. I think in 1970's terms Simplicity gave us a "Jiffy" release. This was just underwhelming after the Vogue release. I don't know why new sewists would be attracted to this line. |
