Hi everyone! I just got the new Boden (U.S.) catalog and love the Ravella top. Here it is on the model: click here
Has anyone seen a similar pattern? I've looked through them all and even went through a year of Burda Style mags and can't seem to find one. I was going to frankenpattern it from a couple I have on hand, but thought if anyone's keen eye has seen something similar, I could save myself some trouble. Here's a close-up: click here

I'm trying to figure out if the top is completely lined, or just faced. In the close-up I can see tell-tale signs of interfacing around the front neck edge, and the back seems to be lined pretty far down... further than just a facing.

I just love this top and could see making it in many colors/patterns. Theirs is made of a viscose/silk blend, machine washable and $78(!), which I'm loathe to spend when it's a pretty simple project!

Thanks for any help and ideas on that lining/facing quandry!

I vote for....It's just faced, you can almost see the crease of the facing along the neckline in the zoom view.

It's very pretty, but I don't have a pattern suggestion. I'm sure you'll be able to find something as you said it's relatively simple.

Very pretty! And it looks like such a simple little top.

It also reminds me a lot of the many variations we've seen on the super-popular (and free!) Colette Sorbetto. If you Google "Colette Sorbetto with sleeves," you will get gads of hits and tutorials that show what other people have done--including several specifically for adding the sleeves.

The other big differences? Sorbetto doesn't have that darling button closure at the back, and the neckline is bound. You'll also want to redistribute the one large center box pleat into the four (?) smaller pleats in the Boden, which should be a really simple change.

Have fun!

I just got their catalog and saw several things I'd like to try to make too.

For Ravella, would Pia by StyleArc be a good starting point?

You people always impress me with the way you can analyze these kinds of things. It's just uncanny.

Thanks, everyone! I had initially thought of Sorbetto, which I have made, and (ducking behind protective shield now!) did not feel the love for. In my review I did vow to try it in a more flowy fabric. But you're right, there is some resemblance, and it's a good starting point. The Ravella appears to be only two pieces with the sleeves part of the front and back, and the seam from upper sleeve hem to neckline, and that should be easy enough to draft. And the StyleArc Pleated Pia is definitely a good comparison.

This will be fun.... I think tomorrow is going to be another unsufferably hot day here in NYC so I think I'll just hunker down and get to it! I'll post a pic of my muslin here soon if I get anywhere with it!
