I love to sew with knits but am having a hard time finding the good quality stuff that isn't paper thin. Is there a source out there that has some nice mid weight knits....cotton knits and sweater knits, maybe even with a little Lycra for some good recovery...that will hold up? I tried the eBay source but it's pretty sheer. Forget Joann's and Hancock....they just frustrate me to no end!

I've seen some great knits on Marcy Tilton's site that others have discussed here. I've also heard people discussing Gorgeous Fabrics here.

I've ordered some great knits from Apple Annie's fabric. I also ask her to send matching thread which is a great help.

I found good knits on fabric.com and Fabric mart, I just make sure that it says light to medium weight or med.

I agree. I agree with the others too, but honestly fabric.com and fabricmart fit my budget a whole lot better unless it is for something special.

fabric.com a time or two a year gets in cotton lycra and I load up on it in a rainbow of colors. I love their cotton lycra.

TheFabricfairy.com also has very very nice cotton lycras. They cater more to kids prints, but not exclusively. Their solid cotton lycras though are great.

Slinky knits are my fave because of the weight. Good luck in finding them however, since I buy them out *evil laugh*

Charlee Girl has prices that fit my budget (I'm retired!) and a great selection. Might check there!

I agree but would have to add Appleannie to make it the top 6 Hall of Knit Fabrics Fame.

Spandex House also has a very good quality cotton lycra knit..a weightier cotton lycra...very reasonable prices...a more limited color selection. These are of a more substantial weight not a light featherweight. They send swatches very quickly without charge...at least last time I ordered there was no charge.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Looks like I'll be shopping today.
Lynnrow: I saw your 8/3 post last night re: stylearc top in the baby lock shop and I realized that the knits I'm working with just don't measure up! Now I MUST have that pattern but need some good quality knit for it. Thanks again everyone.
