threads magazine any subscribers?

Date: 8/13/12 10:54 AM Interested to see if anyone is a subscriber to threads magazine and if they like it? and if anyone is an insider -- and if they find the videos and/or pattern database helpful. i used to subscribe to vogue patterns which was a good read but am considering switching. thanks!

At least that is the way I perceive them. If I could only choose one though, I would pick the Threads publication. I do not subscribe to the online content, mainly because I feel that if I subscribe to the printed magazine I should have access to the online subscriber portion of the website. There are some parts that everyone can access but other sections that are only available to online content subscribers. Date: 8/13/12 11:47 AM Yes, I am, and I like the magazine to get my creative juices flowing. Their how-to articles are a little lean for my taste--I'm not that much of an expert, to make easy use of them. I find the Videos to be Very Helpful, and I think it's totally worth it for the $12.50/yr subscription to the online website (Insiders), if only because I get easy access to their entire video library! On demand and as much as I need/want. Here are some screenshots of the videos available:

Date: 8/13/12 11:52 AM Yes, I like this magazine as well as their website. I am not an Insider, but have subscribed to the magazine for many years. I kept and then sold the back issues and purchased the magazines on DVD then loaded to the computer for easy access to whatever subject I am looking for.

Even though I have been sewing since dinosaurs walked the earth, I still learn a great deal from this, the finest sewing magazine I have ever run into. Over the years, Threads has had its difficulties. To try to stay alive, they have changed emphasis a number of times, dropping couture technique and fooling with simple, ugly clothing and/or home dec, but in the end they went back to something approaching the older platform, which was much more dedicated to fine garment sewing techniques and ideas. I have recently become an "insider," and find the videos and such surprisingly helpful. They sometimes present me with ideas and approaches that really would not have occurred to me--and with many decades of sewing under my belt, I have seen a lot! All in all, I consider my years of subscription to this magazine one of my best sewing investments.

Date: 8/13/12 12:44 PM Lately, due to rising costs of subscription, I have let Threads, Vogue Patterns and Sew News go. It's odd, but I haven't missed them. I get Burda and Ottobre, but will probably Burda go after the next three issues, as I will have quite a pile and almost all the patterns are some variety of a basic or other - or styles can be modified. I find I just Google to find tutorials and videos for sewing techniques now. Saves storage space and money. I subscribe to both and find them very helpful. I do plan to get the DVD version of Threads so I can free up some shelf space. It was on sale not long ago and can't believe I didn't get it Oh well - maybe another time.
