Changing to a Two-Piece Sleeve w/Princess Seamed Bodice What Do I use for landmarks?

Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 8/18/12 10:15 PM Hi everyone: I'm currently working on a muslin for New Look 6028. It's a very easy "Chanel-type" jacket variation. I've converted the one-piece sleeve into a two-piece sleeve using a Threads tutorial (I knew that Threads Archive investment would pay off!) which was really easy and interesting. But now as I'm setting the sleeves in my muslin, I realize that I'm not sure how to line everything up. I have my center dot for the shoulder seam. I got out another pattern with a two-piece sleeve and placed the square correctly to match the underarm seam area. Here's my question: Are the two seams on the sleeve supposed to line up with the princess seams on the bodice? It does in the back, but it doesn't in the front. (The sleeve seam is about 1-1/4" lower than the princess seam ) I don't have anything RTW that's similar in my closet that I can compare, and I can't tell from line drawings/photos on other patterns. It looks fine as is, but I just wanted to be sure before proceeding. I thought about getting a Vogue pattern with all of this business already sorted out for me, but part of the deal with this jacket is that I wanted to stash-bust and make what I have work (and also exercise my brain a bit!) The main reason that I wanted a two-piece sleeve was because I wanted a vent, which you can't do with a one-piece sleeve. Anyhow, that's my story! Any advice on how this new two-piece sleeve is supposed to orient in the bodice (or does it matter?) is most appreciated! Thanks!
