2 members like this. Date: 8/21/12 8:29 PM My daughter showed me a hairband a friend gave her at college. It's apparently all the rage, because they don't crease your hair. I took one look at it---recognized what it was made of--- and asked, what do they cost? She estimated about $1.25 a piece, but she said you can only find them at boutiques.
Tonight, I just found the bands on Anthropologie. $12 for 5 hairbands! But look what they're made of!
(They also sell headbands)
Check it out
Wow, I just bought some fold over elastic for 40 some cents a yard.
Grab a little fabric dye and you've got easy-peasy stocking stuffers for the holidays.

Date: 8/21/12 9:15 PM That's a riot. Look at the price! Simple idea - and we know where to score "the stuff." ------ “Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.” -Robert Heinlein and Ann's father. Thanks for the reminder, Ann.
Where are we going, and what am I doing in this handbasket?

Date: 8/21/12 9:33 PM Although I am not Patti, Etsy vendors seem to have a huge variety of Fold Over Elastic for sale:
Fold Over Elastic in Supplies section of Etsy.
I'm sure there are other sources for FOE (the Etsy vendors must get it from someplace/someone, too), but I see the most variety in color, size, pattern, etc. on Etsy.
NAYY, etc.

Date: 8/21/12 9:40 PM Wow, that Etsy elastic is great!
I bought my elastic at Needle Nook Fabrics in Wichita, KS. Great prices. They don't have a website, but will mail orders. I have no idea about their shipping prices. My parents live in Wichita and every SINGLE time I visit them, I go to Needle Nook!

Date: 8/22/12 9:41 AM My granddaughter bought a package of two of these for $6.00 in a sporting goods store last week. I nearly died when I recognized what they were. And just knotted! No sew. I guess she paid $$ for the little printed cardboard they were attached to. |

Date: 8/22/12 9:48 AM Those are cute. Now I have an way to use up the gazillion yards of Foldover elastic that i've acquired and will never be able to use up in my lifetime.
I got mine from eBay at Kathy's Lace & Elastic Outlet. She has a Yahoo group as well. Just google search. She has a few reviews here on PR as well. Loads of colors and great service!! NAYY ------ *Jen*

Date: 8/22/12 12:44 PM I have seen these at W-mart and other discount stores for wayyy to much money as well! I was with my dd one time and we just rolled our eyes at the ridiculous price for a few "hairbands". They are cute though and so simple to make.
I think I will whip a few up although I do wonder if they would have to be used over regular pony tail holders to hold thick and longer hair in place. |
