In my wildest dreams I never would have thought I would receive such joy and fulfillment from learning to sew. I have made several sun dresses for my granddaughters . My very first project got a lot of compliments and when I said, "thank you." the said, " YOU! made that? To which I now proudly respond, "guys can make pretty things too. It is a labor of love and very rewarding. I sew every day and I can't wait to watch my skills continue to grow. My favorite so far is making pretty and a bit girls dresses. I love watching my grand daughters eyes sparkle as I bring them a new dress. I will learn to make shirts and manly stuff but I am getting request from young mothers to make a cute dress like that for thier daughters.i love how you can take the same pattern and change its whole feel and look by just changing fabrics or adding lace or ruffles or a handmade fabric flower. I am having a blast and I am not ashamed of it. |

Date: 8/23/12 11:11 PM Sorry I'll keep that in mind. I was in McDonald's the other day and 3 burly guys standing near by. The counter person says Mark that dress you made for Addy (my youngest grand daughter) was adorable would you make one for my daughter? Boy did I get some looks. I am big burley and have a full beard. But the lookers I got. Oh well lol. Thank for your reply -- Edited on 8/24/12 1:20 AM -- |

Date: 8/23/12 11:48 PM I think it is awesome! I wish more men would sew.
One of the most popular quilters around here is a man--he is a retired engineer, and he is as picky as an of us on his quilts! He even teaches some now. I love that.
