part 1

part 2

In my second attempt at trying to finish a waistband neatly using this method, I am running into the same problem: I am not seeing the magic manifest and I don't know what it is that I'm doing wrong. I suspect it has something to do with the initial length of the waistband, but I'm not sure.

How far past the center front should the underlap extend? Both times that I've tried this, I get the same bulky seam at the edge. Has anyone had success with this? Help please.

Thanks.

After watching the tutorials, make sure the lining fabric only comes to CF + SA. The waistband will then have a fold at the edge, not a seam. The seam will be at CF. THen sew both edges to finish.

Is this for the under- or overlap? Or both?

For both. In the first tutorial, she shows where the overlaps are.

You can do this for both ends. The overlap needs to have the outer band fold over far enough to either secure a hook or sew a buttonhole. It is a much flatter finish
